There is a lot of land around that is beautiful and unused and disc golf is a great activity for young kids/anyone looking for something to do!

The categories shown are so broad it’s not possible to provide meaningful comment. Maybe the November info will be more useful.

Remove the encroaching properties for Town property to the benefit of property owners who us the landing.
1 comment2JPK7 months agoMore Efficient Road plowing plan on Southwood Road
The last 2 yrs has seen town snowplow trucks enter on Southwood with blades up until they come to a town rd. Then the town rd gets plowed and blades back up until the next town rd. Once complete the truck drives all the way back with blade up over snow covered roads getting it packed down. The contract the town has with Robinson to plow the district rd. doesn't see Southwood plowed until late morning. By this time the snow has been packed down and rutted. Our schools buses drive over these roads first thing in the morning and the driver on this route has complained to Hammond the bus service about the main road not being plowed but the ancillary roads are done first thing. The main road (Southwood/Beiers) should be the first priority followed by the roads that feed it. Town hides behind the contract saying the minimum is being met with respect to Southwood. Common sense says it is done in the wrong order. In the city of Toronto main thoroughfares are priority followed by side streets and ancillary roads. Why is Town doing it backwards, there is a reason which they haven't shared their rationale. It makes sense to plow the high traffic roads first, hands down, there is no other priority than the safety of our kids traveling the bus daily as well as the workers having to get to their jobs early morning. Two of our area residents stood in front of council last year to address the concern of all of our neighbouring friends. Town's response from Scott Lucas was, we are meeting contract standards. That is a total lack of responsibility on the town to address a problem. Stop hiding behind meeting standards and do the right and rational thing, get high traffic roads as first priority. Seeing town trucks with blades up driving and compacting the snow while driving in both directions makes no sense and is a total waste of taxpayer money. The second is the follow up sanding. Town trucks will come daily to sand town roads because the snowplow employees need something to do and will resand and already heavily sanded town road while again driving over Beiers and Southwood without the sander on. Southwood/Beiers can go days without follow up sanding, meanwhile the town roads have been done daily. Again wasting taxpayers dollars resanding heavily sanded town road to keep salary drivers busy, while not maintaining the district roads properly. Our population in this area has increased immensely over the past 10 years. I drive to work early morning between 6 and 7 and the number of cars going both ways is amazing. Southwood should be reclassified, I believe it is classified as a seasonal road, that may have been true prior to 2000 but since then the population growth in the area along with four season homes has increased substantially since then. Perhaps the town should do a traffic count study on Southwood and Beiers, compared to some of the town roads. In closing I would suggest the town start thinking about the broader picture with respect to snowplowing priorities, high traffic roads first and town/feeder roads second.
