2026 Budget

Budget 2026
The budget process is a little different this year.
On May 1, 2025, the Government of Ontario expanded strong mayor powers to several municipalities in Ontario. This included the Town of Gravenhurst.
Learn more about strong mayor powers.
As a result of these new powers, Mayor Heidi Lorenz is responsible for preparing and presenting a budget. In the past, budgets were prepared by staff and presented to council for consideration.
Throughout the budget process, as in past years, there have been various opportunities for the public to participate (see below).
The draft budget process
Draft budget consultation started on Sept. 23, 2025.
At that time, we asked residents to share with us their budget priorities for the year ahead.
On Nov. 7, 2025, Mayor Lorenz's draft budget became available for review.
Since then, residents have been able to share with us (see below) their thoughts about the draft budget.
On Nov. 26, 2025, Mayor Lorenz formally presented the draft budget and hosted a related public meeting. At the meeting, residents provided comment on the budget.
Next steps
Council will consider amendments to the draft budget on Dec. 9/10, 2025 prior to adoption.
The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the council chambers.
The public is welcome to attend or watch online.
